Located on Piazza del Duomo in downtown Milan, the historic Terrazza Aperol bar has undergone a total aesthetic transformation, the work of Vudafieri Saverino Partners. Designed to enhance the pleasure of getting together with friends, the new layout reflects the Aperol brand’s commitment to fostering social connection.Terrazza Aperol - Vudafieri Saverino Partners ©Santi Caleca, courtesy of Vudafieri Saverino Partners

After designing Aperol’s first branded bar in Venice in 2021, architects Claudio Saverino and Tiziano Vudafieri embraced this new challenge in Milan, transforming one of the city’s most iconic locations. Enriched by a warm, enveloping color palette, the lively, welcoming atmosphere invites guests to celebrate the apéritif experience in a setting that pays tribute to Milan’s unique character.Terrazza Aperol - Vudafieri Saverino Partners ©Santi Caleca, courtesy of Vudafieri Saverino Partners

The moment guests arrive, they are immersed in the world of Aperol. A wall with a hammered pale gold finish reflects the vibrant orange of the opposite wall, crafted from corrugated recycled polycarbonate in the brand’s signature colors. The use of recycled plastic not only injects a natural dynamism into the design but also sends a clear message of sustainability. This material recurs in different forms and dimensions throughout the space, becoming a unifying element of the design.Terrazza Aperol - Vudafieri Saverino Partners ©Santi Caleca, courtesy of Vudafieri Saverino Partners

Focused on creating a venue that encourages shared times with friends, the architects designed a flexible environment that sparks social interaction and curiosity. Each area was created to adapt to changing needs through the day, easily transforming from a relaxed setting for daytime refreshments to a destination for evening apéritifs and social events.Terrazza Aperol - Vudafieri Saverino Partners ©Santi Caleca, courtesy of Vudafieri Saverino Partners

The centerpiece of the project is the counter, which acts as a dynamic hub for meeting up and chatting with friends. Behind it, recessed pale gold-colored metal shelves with gilded mirrors add visual depth and, combined with the other reflective surfaces, amplify the natural light.Terrazza Aperol - Vudafieri Saverino Partners ©Santi Caleca, courtesy of Vudafieri Saverino Partners

A wall adjacent to the counter features graphic art by Vahram Muratyan, who has reinterpreted some of Milan’s most iconic locations with a vibrant blend of colors and stylized forms.

Furnished with tables and seating, the panoramic terrace seamlessly extends the interior outdoors, treating guests to exceptional views of Duomo’s distinctive architecture.
